The Special Assistance Network attended a seminar on “Protecting Assets to Qualify for Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security” sponsored by Legal Education CLE. The seminar focused on understanding the latest asset planning and protection techniques to assist clients needing to qualify for government assistance and benefits. The seminar covered developments on Medicaid and Medicare access, Social Security benefits, spend-down’s, exempt vs. non-exempt assets, and other government assistance programs. The seminar also dealt with the understanding of the various application processes and the appeals process in attempting to obtain various governmental benefits available to those individuals that may qualify for such benefits. The information gained from this seminar was helpful in assisting families and clients with Special Needs.
