Special Assistance Network attends seminar on "Working with Beneficiaries with Mental Illness or Special Needs"

The Special Assistance Network was pleased to attend an informative seminar on “Working with Beneficiaries with Mental Illness or Special Needs” presented by the Association of Trust Organizations (ATO Trust Speaker Series) in Ada, Oklahoma. The presentation discussed how trustees often struggle in working effectively with beneficiaries who have a mental health disorder or special needs when they are symptomatic or they are less equipped in managing their emotions. Discussions included about how trustees could use proactive strategies to implement as well as strategies to implement when a crisis erupts (this would include questions to ask, conversations to address in advance, and sample procedures to implement during a mental health crisis). This presentation was very informative and helpful when assisting clients of the Special Assistance Network.
